Peoples Rx has been
compounding for our four-legged and feathered friends since 1985. It is by no
mistake that we are well staffed with animal-lovers; more than half of the
compounded prescriptions we make are for animals!
As a local business, we
are proud of our Austin community and the many animal organizations it
supports. In the past we have worked with rescue organizations to provide
discounted compounded prescriptions for their animals, but this year we want to
do even more!
Peoples is proud to
announce our PetsRx program! We will
donate one dollar to one of three local animal organizations for each animal
prescription we compound. This is how it works: Bones generated from dog
prescriptions will be donated to Texas Hearing & Service Dogs, the kitty
from the cat prescriptions will go to Thundering Paws Animal Sanctuary and
exotic animal prescription revenue will go to the Austin Zoo & Sanctuary!
Help us fetch a bunch of
money for these animal organizations! Have your pet’s prescription compounded
at any of our four locations and we’ll take care of the rest.
Texas
Hearing & Service Dogs
Texas Hearing and Service Dogs
trains dogs to assist Texans living with hearing or mobility challenges. We
adopt every dog in our program from an animal shelter, rescue group or
occasional owner release. Thanks to your donations, we
provide the dogs and training free of charge.
Hearing Dogs alert their deaf
partners by touch and lead them to a variety of important everyday sounds.
Service Dogs assist physically challenged individuals by opening doors and
refrigerators, fetching out of reach wheelchairs, retrieving dropped items,
turning lights on and off, getting help and moving paralyzed limbs. They also
perform customized tasks such as assistance with clothing and specialized
equipment. We also train Service Dogs to assist persons with balance while
walking, e.g. people who have had polio, strokes or Parkinson's. Hearing and
Service Dogs also provide emotional and social benefits through companionship
and encouragement of greater interaction from others.
Thundering
Paws – A program of Central Texas Animal Sanctuary
The mission of Central Texas Animal Sanctuary (CTAS) is to offer a
safe haven for animals of all kinds, with an emphasis on domestic animals, who
are homeless, neglected, injured or abused. Our goal is to respect animals as individual beings with
spirits who deserve the right to live a happy and healthy life, regardless of
their attitude toward humans and human contact.
Austin Zoo & Sanctuary
Austin
Zoo and Animal Sanctuary is a rescue zoo. Over 90% of our residents have been
rescued from unfortunate circumstances. Our residents range from former circus
animals, monkeys who have spent their entire lives in laboratory research
centers, to exotic birds and animals kept inappropriately as pets. We
provide sanctuary for these animals so they may live out their days in relative
happiness and comfort.
We
often say, "In a perfect world, Austin Zoo and Animal Sanctuary would not
exist," but unfortunately, we see almost daily requests to take in animals
with no other place to go. In addition to providing safe shelter and care
for these animals, our goal is to educate the public on nature conservation and
animal welfare.
